The Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi was created in December 2011 and in a short time has become a stable reality in the Italian music scene, thanks to collaborations with the greatest concert seasons, festivals and institutions of the country.

Its members are selected among the most promising young musicians in Europe with experiences in the most prestigious orchestras in the world, such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, the Teatro La Fenice Orchestra and Filarmonica, the Teatro San Carlo Orchestra and the Teatro Petruzzelli Orchestra, who share the desire to create a new and young artistic reality.

The Orchestra Vivaldi has played more than two hundred symphonic concerts, held in the best concert halls and theaters of the country, like the Sala Verdi at the Conservatory in Milan, the Gran Teatro La Fenice and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice, the Bibiena Theatre in Mantua, the Teatro Sociale in Como, the Teatro Comunale in Vicenza and the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. The sold-out tour in Spain in 2014 marked the Orchestra’s debut in the European scene. Further international experiences followed, in Switzerland, Luxembourg, and China.

In 2015, just four years after its creation, the Orchestra Vivaldi became the resident orchestra of the concert season “Serate Musicali” in Milan, gaining a prominent role in a programme which was shared by the greatest artists of the international scene.

That same year, the Orchestra launched the new Teatro Sociale in Sondrio with a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, which was successfully acclaimed by the critic and the public. Since the season 2016/2017 the Orchestra has become the resident orchestra of this theater.

The repertoire of the Orchestra Vivaldi varies and embraces also contemporary music, through ongoing collaborations with some of the greatest composers of the national scene, such as Silvia Colasanti, Fabio Vacchi, Giorgio Battistelli, Piergiorgio Ratti, Andrea Portera.

Furthermore, the Orchestra has collaborated with internationally renowned conductors and soloists.

The very young artistic direction is composed by Lorenzo Passerini (musical director) and Ernesto Colombo (production director).

The activity of the Orchestra Vivaldi is supported by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, by Regione Lombardia, by the Province of Sondrio and by the municipalities of Sondrio and Morbegno.
