LUISA MILLER
Hamburg Staatsoper, Hamburg
November - December | 2024
"The Hamburg Opera Philharmonic Orchestra was conducted by the young Italian conductor Lorenzo Passerini, already a guest of the State Opera in the spring for ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’. Under his expert baton, the orchestra played with great inspiration and wonderfully elaborate and finely graduated timbral colours. Dramatic, effect-rich and passionately compelling, Lorenzo Passerini created a wonderfully fluent Italian Verdi sound that turned this evening into a thrilling experience."

"Lorenzo Passerini's overwhelming conducting was magnificent, from the bravura prelude to the dramatic finale, giving the State Philharmonic Orchestra a fantastic sound."

"Lorenzo Passerini is clearly at ease with the score and makes the state orchestra play with fresh Italian elegance. Not in a self-indulgent manner, but as a means to an end. The score overflows with Verdi's human warmth, which emerges particularly well in this sound tapestry. With Passerini, the orchestral players and especially the principal singers become protagonists who integrate brilliantly with the exceptionally homogenous ensemble."
